11 days Gorillas, chimps and wildlife

Day 1: Arrival

You will be picked from the airport by a tour guide from the company who will then take you to your hotel to rest and refresh from the journey.

Day 2: Transfer to Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary

After your breakfast at the lodge, we shall drive to Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary, have lunch, and do the Rhino tracking. We shall have our dinner and night at the lodge.

Day 3: Shoebill Tracking and Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

The Shoebill Stork is one of the most sought-after birds to be seen in Uganda, and Zziwa is one of the only places where you are almost always guaranteed to see them. It has a record number of 11 Shoebill sightings in one trip. This adventure is one for the early birds. You’ll set off on the Shoebill trek at 6 am. The canoe ride through the swamp at that time gives you the best opportunity to see the Shoebill. Additionally, it is a fantastic way to witness the beautiful Ugandan sunrise over the Lugogo Swamp. Water birds are plentiful there, making this a must for anyone who loves nature or is interested in birding. On this day, we shall wake up early, have our breakfast, and set out for the Shoebill sightings. After the activity, we shall have our lunch and drive to Murchison Falls National Park.

Day 4: Game Drive and Boat Cruise

On this day, after our breakfast at the lodge, we shall have a game drive in the park and later in the afternoon after our lunch, do a boat cruise. Murchison Falls National Park lies at the northern end of the Albertine Rift Valley, where the vast Bunyoro escarpment transforms into a vast savannah dotted with palm trees. Murchison Falls is home to more than 144 mammals, 556 species of birds, 51 reptiles, and 51 amphibians. With large numbers of African elephants, Murchison Falls is impressive all year round. Historically, giraffes inhabit exclusively the northern sector of the park. Buffalo populations have soared to more than 10,000 while Ugandan kobs have surged to more than 35,000.

Day 5: Game Drive at Murchison Falls National Park

Breakfast at the lodge, then depart for a game drive with our packed lunch. We spend a whole day observing the animals. When it is hot, we find a little shade to observe nature in its happiness as they all come to drink the water of the Nile.

Day 6: Transfer to Kibale and Crater Lakes Visit

This day, after breakfast, we will head to Kibale Forest, the primate capital of the world. Upon arrival, we shall have lunch and visit the crater lakes. Crater lakes are formed as a result of volcanicity, with a violent eruption causing the explosion of the summit of a volcano, leaving a crater. The lakes are numerous and vary in size and character, featuring well-developed facilities. A crater lakes visit is a thrilling adventure that offers intense views of the magnificent surrounding landscapes, hills, and the sumptuous green canopy of the forest.

Day 7: Chimpanzee Trekking and Bigodi Swamp Walk

Early in the morning, after our breakfast, we will head to Kibale headquarters where we will have a briefing and a ranger will be assigned to guide us throughout the chimpanzee trek. Hiking with the chimpanzees can last about 3 to 4 hours in total. After the trek, we shall have lunch, visit the community, and the Bigodi Swamp. Rich in biodiversity and scenic beauty, the Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary is a must-visit. A 4.5 km walk will take you through this important wildlife corridor of Kibale Forest and will take up to 3 hours. This wonderful place is home to over 200 species of birds, including hornbills, turacos, parrots, cranes, kingfishers, and many other endemic marsh species. In addition, the sanctuary is home to 8 species of primates, including the black and white colobus, red colobus, red-tailed monkey, gray-cheeked mangabey, baboon olive, the vervet monkey, and the blue monkey.

Day 8: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

We shall have an early breakfast and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, the home of the mountain gorillas. We shall have lunch on the way and make various stops to enjoy the scenic views and take some photos.

Day 9: Gorilla Trekking

A gorilla safari in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a dream for almost every traveler and has been hailed by some as the best wildlife experience in the world. Gorilla trekking starts at 8 am. After our early breakfast, we head to the park with our packed lunch for a briefing. Led by our expert rangers, the trek can last from 3 to 8 hours depending on where the gorillas will be on a given day. After the trek, you shall later relax at the lodge.

Day 10: Transfer to Lake Mburo and Night Game Drive

After our breakfast, we shall leave for Lake Mburo National Park. Upon arrival, we shall have lunch and prepare for a night game drive. Lake Mburo is one of the few parks where you can go on a night safari! At night, there are a variety of animals that you would not see during the day, particularly bush pigs, genets, white-tailed mongooses, just to mention a few. Night walks also give you the best chance of finding leopards, spotted hyenas, and there is a male lion in the park which resides on the edge of Lake Mburo itself. It's an interesting experience at night with a searchlight, an unusual variation of regular safaris.

Day 11: Safari Walk and Departure

Early in the morning, we shall go on a safari walk inside the park accompanied by a game ranger where we shall be able to see different animals, mainly giraffes, antelopes, and zebras. Then we shall return to Entebbe for your flight back home. Along the way, we shall stop at the Equator for lunch and some photos.
