You will be picked from the airport by a tour guide from the company who will then take you to your hotel to rest and refresh from the journey.
Shoebill tracking is best done early in the morning, so we shall have an early breakfast at the lodge and head out to Mabamba Swamp in search of the Shoebill. After our lunch, we shall head to Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary.
After our breakfast, we shall head out for a Rhino trek and drive to Murchison Falls National Park. Upon arrival, we shall view the top of the falls, have our lunch, and prepare for an evening game drive.
On this day, after our breakfast at the lodge, we shall have a game drive in the park and later in the afternoon after our lunch, do a boat cruise. Murchison Falls National Park lies at the northern end of the Albertine Rift Valley, where the vast Bunyoro escarpment transforms into a vast savannah dotted with palm trees. Murchison Falls is home to more than 144 mammals, 556 species of birds, 51 reptiles, and 51 amphibians. With large numbers of African elephants, Murchison Falls is impressive all year round. Historically, giraffes inhabit exclusively the northern sector of the park. Buffalo populations have soared to more than 10,000 while Uganda kobs have surged to more than 35,000.
We shall have our breakfast and then drive to Kibale National Park, the primate capital of the world. We shall have lunch on the way, dinner, and night at the lodge.
Early in the morning, after our breakfast, we shall head to Kibale headquarters where you will have a briefing and a ranger will be assigned to guide you throughout the chimpanzee trek. Hiking with the chimpanzees can last about 3 to 4 hours in total. After the trek, we shall have lunch, visit the community, and the Bigodi swamp. Rich in biodiversity and scenic beauty, the Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary is a must-visit. A 4.5km walk will take you through this important wildlife corridor of Kibale Forest and will take up to 3 hours. This wonderful place is home to over 200 species of birds, including hornbills, turacos, parrots, cranes, kingfishers, and many other endemic marsh species. In addition, the sanctuary is home to 8 species of primates, including the black and white colobus, red colobus, red-tailed monkey, gray-cheeked mangabey, baboon olive, the vervet monkey, and the blue monkey.
This day, after our breakfast, we shall head to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The park is known for its abundant wildlife, including elephants, buffalos, Ugandan kobs, hippopotamus, topi, waterbucks, warthogs, giant pigs, Nile crocodiles, leopards, spotted hyenas, chimpanzees, and lions. In total, the park is home to 95 species of mammals and more than 600 species of birds. On arrival, we shall have lunch and do a boat cruise on the Kazinga channel to observe wild animals coming to drink in the heat of the afternoon, followed by an evening game drive.
This day, we shall do a game drive in the Kanshenyi sector and then transfer to Ishasha, still in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Game drives in Queen Elizabeth are very interesting and memorable and are best done very early in the morning or late in the afternoon. You will therefore have the chance to see many animals, which is always a wonderful experience.
This day, after our breakfast, we shall head to the park for a morning game drive and then transfer to Bwindi. Game viewing in the Ishasha area mainly focuses on watching the unique tree-climbing lions. Lions are normally seen lazily reclining in the branches of huge fig trees, observing the many Ugandan Kobs that graze on the open plains of Ishasha, and these are in fact their main prey. Depending on luck, you may be able to spot them during the safari. Dinner and night at the lodge.
A gorilla safari in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a dream for almost every traveler and has been hailed by some as the best wildlife experience in the world. Gorilla trekking starts at 8 am. After our early breakfast, we head to the park with our packed lunch for a briefing. Led by our expert rangers, the trek can last from 3 to 8 hours depending on where the gorillas will be on a given day. After the trek, you shall later relax at the lodge. Dinner and night at the lodge.
After our breakfast, we shall leave for Lake Mburo National Park. Upon arrival, we shall have lunch and prepare for a night game drive. Lake Mburo is one of the few parks where you can go on a night safari! At night, there are a variety of animals that you would not see during the day, particularly bush pigs, genets, white-tailed mongooses, just to mention a few. Night walks also give you the best chance of finding leopards, spotted hyenas, and there is a male lion in the park which resides on the edge of Lake Mburo itself. It's an interesting experience at night with a searchlight, an unusual variation of regular safaris. Dinner and night at the lodge.
Early in the morning, we shall have our breakfast and then embark on our return journey to Entebbe for your flight back home. Along the way, you shall stop at the Equator for lunch and some photos.
